Bruce Liu already thrilled the audience at Schloss Johannisberg at his festival debut with us in summer 2022, as well as at the Rheingau Music Festival 2023, when he appeared on our stages twice. This year we are taking the next step together: As the first festival ever, we are devoting a focus to the young piano star and are looking forward to five concerts with him.

Victory at the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition in October 2021 turned Bruce Liu into a worldwide sensation. Deutsche Grammophon’s live album of his competition recordings was released to rave reviews the following month, and the Canadian-Chinese pianist pianist became an exclusive DG artist in March 2022.

Berlin, 29 March 2022. Deutsche Grammophon is delighted to mark World Piano Day by announcing the signing of an exclusive agreement with Bruce Liu. The 24-year-old Canadian pianist shot “from near obscurity to rock-star status in the classical music world” (The Globe and Mail) after winning the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition last autumn, since when his performances worldwide have been showered with critical acclaim.

Nov 2022 — Say Who
An exceptional venue calls for an exceptional recital. And it was the case since Bruce Liu’s outstanding performance on October 28 took place in the beautiful Chopin Salon at the Chaumet headquarters, Place Vendôme. Led by Hélène Arnault, a renowned pianist and concertist herself, the salon where the Polish genius wrote his last mazurka, vibrated with the most exquisite notes.

22 Oct 2021 — The Fryderyk Chopin Institute
The final auditions of the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition are over. The jury composed of 17 international personalities of the piano world chaired by Professor Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń awarded the following prizes.
