Waves: Music By Satie

Bruce Liu releases “Waves: Music by Satie” a new digital album featuring two contrasting versions of the composer’s six Gnossiennes recorded on grand and upright pianos. Satie’s six simple short works for solo piano, written between 1890 and 1897, are full of new and unexpected colours, with a sometimes oriental feel. They may have been influenced by the eastern music Satie heard at the 1889 Paris Exposition.

The vinyl and limited deluxe edition of Liu’s debut album ‘Waves’ from November 2023 featured Satie’s Gnossiennes in the grand piano version as bonus tracks; those tracks are now released digitally for the first time together with new upright piano versions.
